Immerse yourself in a full Apostle Islands Experience! Full boat tour of the Apostle Islands, including kayaking the Devil’s Island sea caves, plus camping on Stockton and Madeline Islands. Explore white sand beaches that call to you (literally named Singing Sands), snorkel shipwrecks (conditions permitting), hike pristine forest trails trimmed with wild mushrooms and much more!
On Thursday, drive to Bayfield, WI where you will take the ferry to Madeline Island. We will setup camp at Big Bay State Park and then take a hike to view the sea cliffs, caves, and the shores of Madeline Island. Dinner is a cook-out and the evening will conclude with relaxing around the fire under the Northwood’s stars.
Friday morning after breakfast we will break down camp and prepare for 2 nights of wilderness, remote camping in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. We will depart Madeline Island by powerboat and explore the entire archipelago with a full day island boat and kayak tour. This includes kayaking in the acclaimed Devils Island caves (weather permitting), viewing (possibly snorkeling) the Fedora shipwreck, exploring the historic Manitou Island Fish Camp and lighthouses of Raspberry and Devil’s Islands. We will end the boat tour at Stockton Island, where we will setup camp for 2 nights, have dinner and watch the sunset.
Saturday we are going to explore Stockton Island! We will have paddleboards and inflatable kayaks to explore the island shoreline and historic remnants in the water (snorkeling if water temperatures permit). The interior of Stockton Island has pristine, preserved natural wild-lands with dense forests, lush fern beds, an expansive bog, wildflowers and a variety of more wild mushrooms than you can imagine! The beaches on Stockton Island are incredible with the singing sands regarded as one of the best beaches in the Great Lakes.
Sunday after breakfast we break camp and boat back to Madeline Island with sight-seeing along the way. We will reconnect you with your car and by early afternoon it’s time to board the ferry and return to the cities.
